Role Purpose:\nCBRE is seeking an experienced Senior Energy Engineer to play a key role in delivering energy efficiency and sustainability programmes across the clients Stevenage campus. Reporting to the Energy Programme Manager, this site-based position will lead the coordination and implementation of energy and carbon reduction initiatives, ensuring projects are executed safely, effectively, and in full alignment with client objectives, operational requirements, and sustainability targets.\n \nThe Senior Energy Engineer will act as the on-site technical representative for energy-related activities, translating programme objectives into practical site delivery. Working under the direction of the Energy Programme Manager, the role will oversee contractors, manage permit-to-work activities, coordinate project execution, support commissioning activities and ensure that energy projects are integrated effectively within a live operational environment.\n \nThe role requires close collaboration with site operations, project stakeholders and third party contractors to ensure successful delivery of the site's energy and decarbonisation programme while maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and compliance.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n \nEnergy & Decarbonisation Programme Support\n\nSupport the Energy Programme Manager in the delivery of the site's energy and carbon reduction programme through the coordination, implementation and technical support of energy improvement initiatives and activities.\nProvide technical and operational support to onsite project teams delivering energy and decarbonisation projects.\nSupport commissioning, testing and handover activities associated with completed energy improvement projects.\nUndertake hands-on fault finding, diagnosis, testing, repair and optimisation of HVAC and associated building services systems to identify energy-saving opportunities and improve system performance.\nCarry out inspections, functional testing, component replacement and repair works on HVAC plant and equipment, ensuring systems are restored to safe, reliable and efficient operation.\nAnalyse plant performance, investigate system faults and implement corrective actions to improve energy efficiency, operational reliability and occupant comfort.\nMaintain accurate records, documentation and performance reports relating to energy and carbon reduction activities.Assist in the monitoring, analysis and reporting of site energy consumption to support ongoing performance improvement.\n \nContractor Management & Site Supervision\n\nSupervise contractors undertaking energy and infrastructure improvement works across the site.\nEnsure all contractors comply with the clients and CBRE health, safety and environmental standards.\nReview contractor documentation including Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).\nConduct contractor inductions, site briefings and toolbox talks as required.\nMonitor work quality, progress and compliance with project requirements.\nEscalate delivery, safety or quality concerns to the Energy Programme Manager where necessary.\n \nPermit to Work & Safety Management\n\nAct as an authorised Permit Issuer under the site's Permit to Work system.\nIssue, manage and close permits for activities including:\nHot Works\nWork at Height\nConfined Space Entry\nElectrical Isolation\nMechanical Isolation\nVerify isolations and safe systems of work prior to commencement of activities.\nUndertake routine site inspections and contractor safety audits.\nEnsure compliance with CBRE procedures, clients standards and relevant legislation.\nSupport incident investigations and corrective action implementation where required.\n \nTechnical Support & Coordination\n\nProvide technical oversight during installation, modification and commissioning of energy-related equipment and systems.\nCoordinate with operations and maintenance teams to facilitate project delivery within a live GMP environment.\nSupport engineering reviews, site surveys and technical assessments as requested by the Energy Programme Manager.\nEnsure all works are completed in accordance with approved specifications, engineering standards and site procedures.\nMaintain records relating to permits, isolations, engineering changes and project activities.\n \nStakeholder Engagement\n\nWork closely with the Energy Programme Manager, site operations teams and client representatives.\nAttend project meetings and provide updates on site progress, risks and constraints.\nSupport communication between contractors, operational teams and project stakeholders.\nContribute to the successful delivery of the site's energy, sustainability and decarbonisation objectives.
